The choices are endless!
It is a trade unto itself,
that of selling fixtures. At "RSHP" we stock just a
couple lines of good quality Basic Products. This usually
suffices to satisfy urgent needs, and simple replacements. We
recognize that until we can employ a full time sales person it is
fruitless and difficult to try to offer complete sales.
In todays world of huge "Home-centers," with massive showrooms it is impossible to compete. The Home-centers have changed the way fixtures are sold. Originally developed for "do it yourself" buffs, people have now found it an easy way to pick out fixtures, at a price usually lower than what a plumber can sell them for.
Traditionally the plumber would buy from a wholesaler, who would order from a Manufacturers Rep, who would order from the Manufacturer. With each hand it would pass through the price goes up. Home-centers now with their purchasing power go straight to the Manufacturer. This has effectively cut three of the steps of the traditional method, (and three less price steps).
At "RSHP" we love a good bargain and don't want to deny our customers a chance to get one. We are happy to work with customers who want to provide their own fixtures, (although, we can not warranty them).
The Home-centers have indeed caused a tremendous boost in the sales of many product lines, but not without a cost. We have witnessed a tremendous decline in the quality of many of these products. Many manufacturers have had to boost production beyond their quality control abilities. As professional installers we can recognize some of these problems more readily than the untrained eye.
The internet has also become a wonderful tool for a savvy consumer. We are happy to offer advice and a few catalogues for people to browse through, and we can also quote prices on products you may have seen on your quest. One of the most important rules to remember is "You get what you pay for " -- (I think, this is one of the new laws of physics).
